Why the "Y"?

As you've probably heard us say, we are living in a time of racial reckoning. We know that systemic racism is not new but things are getting far worse.

We know there are health disparities for many populations, however, BIPOC folks experience it on a much greater level. According to MNBar.org (2021), "Health disparities resulting from racism exist between white populations and BIPOC communities throughout the country and across a spectrum of health areas, but they do not affect all BIPOC populations in the same way or to the same degree. Black and Indigenous populations throughout the country have always made up the worst disparities across equity issues, and many populations in certain geographical areas are substantially affected as well, especially Latinx and Southeast Asian populations in urban areas."

Live Your Healthy Lyfe is a health-conscious event curated for Minneapolis' Northside community by the Northside community. Through collective engagement, we will address health disparities, advance mental, spiritual, and physical wellness for all -- helping folks make healthier decisions for themselves, their families, and the community.

This event will allow folks from all ages to engage in our festivities, through education and entertainment. We will host live music, comedy and facilitate discussions with healthcare providers servicing the Northside to learn more about our health and wellness, build relationships and trust.
